Position Summary

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for independently managing a full credentialing desk, ensuring all on-assignment and incoming clinicians meet compliance requirements in accordance with client, state, and company standards. This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and accountability, as the Specialist owns the credentialing process from start to finish, coordinating across multiple stakeholders to protect clinician start dates and maintain seamless onboarding experiences.This is a 6-month consulting engagement, with the potential to extend to a full-time position based on performance and business need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a full credentialing desk, maintaining compliance for a caseload of active and incoming clinicians across multiple clients and assignments
  • Monitor and manage expiring credentials and certifications, proactively driving renewals to prevent compliance lapses
  • Coordinate and schedule clinic visits for on-assignment clinicians, ensuring all pre-placement health and screening requirements are fulfilled on time
  • Navigate client and vendor portals to upload, organize, and track required credentialing documentation with accuracy
  • Follow up on health screening and drug screen orders, ensuring results are received, documented, and distributed to appropriate parties in a timely manner
  • Review and verify background check results for accuracy, escalating discrepancies as needed in accordance with company policy
  • Manage multiple simultaneous clinician onboardings across different clients, portals, and due dates, prioritizing effectively to avoid delays in start dates
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and adhere to state-specific credentialing and compliance regulations applicable to each assignment
  • Ensure all credentialing requirements are met within client-required timelines, proactively identifying and resolving potential roadblocks before they impact a clinician's start date
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for credentialing throughout the full onboarding process, maintaining clear and consistent communication with clinicians from offer acceptance through placement
  • Collaborate closely with recruiters to align on clinician pipelines, flag outstanding requirements, and communicate status updates throughout the credentialing process
  • Partner with the compliance team to ensure all documentation and processes meet regulatory and contractual standards
  • Communicate regularly with account managers regarding clinician readiness, compliance status, and any issues that may affect client relationships or start dates
  • Follow and enforce company credentialing policies and procedures, escalating compliance concerns or policy violations as necessary
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date records within internal credentialing systems, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness at all times

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in healthcare staffing, credentialing, or a related compliance/administrative role required.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare credentialing requirements and state regulatory standards
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload with multiple deadlines across various clients and assignments simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Google Work Space and demonstrated comfort navigating multiple online portals and databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across teams
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate appropriately when needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
