We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate software to make Asana secure, scalable and fast. You’ll be combining industry best-practices and your innovation with a ground-breaking reactive framework. You’ll design software to process, query, search, analyze, and store data for applications that are continually growing in scale. You will work with a world-class team of engineers on deploying and operating existing systems, and building new ones for problems that are unique to our problem space.

This infrastructure engineering team builds and operates Asana’s bespoke reactive data server, powering all data loading in our web application and API. We are responsible for a large and constantly evolving distributed system which is key to Asana’s availability and performance. Our focus is on building generic frameworks that allow the Asana web application to quickly load new data, as well as automatically send changes to the users who need to see them, for millions of users in 195 countries.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve

  • Design, build and operate distributed services with high availability at scale
  • With the help of tooling and metrics you build, understand the performance and reliability characteristics of the system, and improve them
  • Work with other engineers across the company to facilitate them developing and deploying new features without undue risk
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, investigate and resolve production problems

About you

  • 5+ years experience of full time professional software development experience, or equivalent
  • 2+ year working on services or infrastructure
  • Expertise with Kubernetes, JVM, Scalam or other typed languages

What we’ll offer

Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $223,000 - $248,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits. We strive to provide equitable and competitive benefits packages that support our employees worldwide and include:

  • Mental health, wellness & fitness benefits
  • Career coaching & support
  • Inclusive family building benefits
  • Long-term savings or retirement plans
  • In-office culinary options to cater to your dietary preferences
