Elementary teachers are subject experts who specialize in either Humanities or STEM. Every school is supported by school leaders who provide professional development and real-time coaching for teachers in their classroom. Just as our teachers invest their time and energy in the progress of their students, we invest our time and energy in the progress of our teachers. This is a 30-day teaching role as a contractor with BrightBee with the opportunity to be invited to Rocketship's Teacher Residency Program—a pathway to long-term impact, growth, and full-time placement. This position allows you to gain hands-on classroom experience, demonstrate your strengths, and explore a future with one of the nation’s most innovative public school networks.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Build a classroom culture of excellence and deliver rigorous instruction by building content expertise in humanities or STEM
  • Utilize provided curriculum to implement classroom instruction
  • Submit lesson plans for feedback and partner with your coach to personalize instruction to student needs.
  • Engage in cycles of data review to inform planning
  • Collaborate with special education staff so students identified as needing extra support are meaningfully included.
  • Support the whole child through intentional SEL lessons and partnership with Rocketship’s Wellness team

Who You Are:

  • You have a valid and unexpired California Substitute Teaching Credential
  • An individual with a genuine enthusiasm for working alongside children and youth along with alignment to our mission of supporting workers, students, and schools while promoting academic success.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to public and charter schools within the applicant region, required.
  • Prior to working with students, you will need to pass a background check, livescan and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances. Rest assured, we will guide you through the process!

Please note, assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
