BrightBee is partnering with Ferndale Public Schools to hire dependable, safety-minded School Bus Drivers who are passionate about safely transporting students and making a positive impact in their community.

As a School Bus Driver, you’re more than someone behind the wheel—you are one of the first and last school staff members students see each day. Your commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism helps ensure every student arrives ready to learn.

📍 Position Details

Location: District-Wide (Ferndale Public Schools)

Reports To:

• Supervisor of Transportation
• Director of Operations

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday
• AM Route & PM Route
• Guaranteed minimum of 4 hours per day

Start Date:
Immediate openings available

Compensation:
Competitive hourly pay pursuant to the AFSCME Master Agreement

🎯 What You’ll Be Doing

• Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities.
• Operate a school bus on established or changing routes while maintaining safe driving practices.
• Report to duty on time and maintain scheduled routes.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Safely operate wheelchair lifts, radios, emergency equipment, and other bus systems.
• Assist students during emergency evacuations when necessary.
• Immediately report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns according to district procedures.
• Complete and submit required documentation, including:
  • Vehicle inspection reports
  • Route change sheets
  • Time cards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly bus.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, coworkers, and district staff.
• Support Ferndale Public Schools’ commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
• Perform other duties assigned by Transportation leadership.

✅ Basic Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record
• Ability to meet all Michigan transportation physical and medical requirements
• Ability to pass required pre-employment and annual physical exams
• Ability to pass federally mandated drug and alcohol testing
• Strong attendance and reliability
• Ability to work independently while maintaining positive relationships with coworkers and the community

CDL Requirements

You must have of the following:

• Current Michigan CDL Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
• DOT medical card

• Pass required physical and drug testing
• Follow all transportation safety policies and reporting procedures
