About the Role:

In this role, you’ll have a meaningful impact on Gusto’s second largest product and business. Gusto Benefits is on a mission to expand and enable access to quality health and financial benefits. We aspire to be the #1 broker for SMBs. Large employers have Enterprise brokers, Third Party Administrators, and Benefits Consultants on retainer. SMBs have Gusto.

About the Team:

Our Benefits Product team is responsible for the full stack of Gusto’s benefits product including the front-end app, its underlying platform services, and internal tooling for our Operations teams. As a Senior Product Manager, you will be provided an opportunity to play a meaningful role fulfilling Gusto’s mission and growing the business.

We are looking for Senior Product Managers to join our Product Management organization under the Benefits team. The focus areas include:

  • Owning our main user-facing journey and growing Gusto’s health insurance brokerage. The Product Manager on our core experience team will lead a team responsible for acquiring new customers for a $X00M+ business unit.
  • Owning the vision, strategy, and roadmap for scaling the management and fulfillment of Gusto’s health insurance benefits product, a $X00M+ business unit. The Product Manager on fulfillment automation will lead a team responsible for leveraging different technologies (APIs and EDI) to integrate with health insurance carriers and middleware providers and fulfill benefits.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Drive the roadmap for guiding small and mid-sized businesses on optimally offering benefits specific to their firmographics, employee needs and budget across the country, and the globe.
  • Build a vision for how Gusto invests in benefits for the long-term and business cases for expanding our benefits offerings and new teams in support of that vision.
  • Be an end to end owner of products and businesses responsible for adoption, customer experience, and cost to serve.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 8+ years of hands-on Product Management experience
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaborator and leader
  • Ability to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends, build business cases, define product vision and strategy, and create a supporting roadmap that rapidly iterates into delivering on your vision
  • Entrepreneurial, driven, passionate about our mission, and have deep empathy for our customers
  • Built products at scale with good UX that users love
  • Bonus points for insurance industry experience or experience in a regulated industry (e.g., fintech, property-tech, etc.)

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $144,000 to $178,000 in Denver & most major metro locations, and $186,000 to $230,000 for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
