Role Overview
As we scale, we’re looking for a talented Full-Stack Engineer who is equally comfortable in Golang and React—someone who can switch between frontend and backend development with ease.
This role is a contract position. In the short term, you’ll focus on improving the product user experience, which includes multiple apps, dashboards, and a marketplace. In the long term, you may focus on building and scaling our backend infrastructure. This role reports directly to our Director of Engineering.
We’re still somewhat in startup mode, so it’s helpful to be able to switch priorities quickly when asked and be used to a faster pace than some other organizations. We also really, really care about sustainability and our customers, especially the nonprofits and schools we serve. If that all sounds like your cup of tea, we invite you to apply!
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable backend services in Golang, maximizing performance and reliability
- Develop modern, responsive frontend applications in React, optimizing for a seamless user experience
- Switch fluidly between frontend and backend tasks as product needs evolve
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and operations teams to prioritize and ship impactful features
- Work on API integrations, which are important partnerships that help us scale
- Ensure code quality, performance, and security best practices are upheld
- Positively contribute to ongoing system architecture decisions
Qualifications
- Experience in both Golang and React, with the ability to work across the stack
- Nice to have: experience with Tailwind CSS
- A solid understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile methodologies
- Ample experience building and deploying scalable backend services (preferably in cloud environments)
- Strong understanding of modern frontend development principles (React, TypeScript, state management)
- Ability to navigate databases, APIs, and authentication with confidence
- Can communicate clearly in a cross-functional work environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to present efficient and effective solutions using the appropriate algorithms and data structures
- Comfortable in a fast-moving startup, balancing short-term goals with long-term architecture
- A love for learning and a positive and proactive mindset
