About the Position
This role has the unique distinction of overseeing one of the first paid parental & family leave insurances in the US. You’ll be responsible for leading the insurance function of the business, and be directly responsible for pricing, program performance analysis, underwriting, claims, and compliance. You’ll manage our relationships with our reinsurers and launch new products with them.
This is a broad role, with overall responsibility for every facet of our insurance. You’ll refine and iterate on our existing insurance products as well as launch new ones.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for insurance pricing, actuary experience required
- Monitoring program profitability and analyzing performance
- Overseeing data and data quality
- Manage new policy launches with reinsurers
- Oversee performance of the book of business, and identify areas of improvement
- Think creatively to address challenges and problem solve
Requirements & Preferences
- 10+ years’ relevant experience as an actuary with exposure to underwriting, preferably with exposure to disability and/or PFML programs
- Experience launching new insurance products, preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of pricing components and rating methodology.
- Ambitious self-starter that needs no oversight
- Proven ability to interact and communicate with all levels of internal colleagues and external business partners
- Able to think strategically while executing, and willing to do the minutiae
- Track record of delivering accurate results, consistently meeting deadlines
- Strong problem-solving ability; reasoning and judgment/decision-making skills
- Well organized, efficient and able to work independently while also able to bring a team together with others in the organization, working cross-functionally for the greater good
