Role Overview
As a Software Engineer at Promise, you will be at the forefront of transforming our vision into reality. You'll play a pivotal role in designing and building our core product offerings from the ground up, shaping the technical foundation of our mission to revolutionize how governments engage with their constituents trying to pay off debt. Being in the early stages of our product development provides you with a unique opportunity to leave a significant imprint on our software architecture and user experience. What you’ll do:
Design, develop, and maintain features for our consumer app, as well as components of our communications and integration platform.
Utilize a data-driven methodology to optimize code performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with teams across the stack, ensuring that our software solutions address genuine user needs and real-world challenges.
Lead the coding, testing, and deployment of key functionalities, while continually seeking feedback to refine and improve.
Make informed technical decisions that align with our overarching goal: to enhance the way government serves its constituents.
What will enable you:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, preferably building large scale, enterprise applications and working in startups or highly dynamic environments.

Technical Tools & Expertise:
Familiarity or interest in programming languages like Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C++. We value your unique experiences and understand that you may excel in other languages not listed here.
Experience with database technologies, like SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
Exposure to cloud platforms like Google Cloud is valuable, as is understanding tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of version control tools, like Git or Mercurial, and any engagement with CI/CD pipelines. Experience using tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI is great too.
