Role Overview

As the Senior Manager of Accounting at Promise, you will step into a pivotal financial management role. This role will report directly to the Controller, and would be responsible for overseeing crucial accounting activities including month end close, compliance with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, AR, AP, payroll, and financial reporting. This role not only supports the financial backbone of the company, but also drives the establishment of efficient accounting processes and strong controls in coordination with the Controller. Your technical expertise and operational impact will help steer Promise through our scaling efforts, navigating the complexities of a growing SaaS environment in the Series B stage and beyond.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the monthly and yearly close process, including preparation and/or review of: journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and financial reporting package.

  • Supervise comprehensive accounting activities including order to cash, payroll, accounts payable, and GL management to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.

  • Provide technical accounting subject matter expertise on the treatment of accounting transactions and related financial reporting requirements to any areas as needed, but specifically in relation to revenue and capitalized software.

  • Prepare for and assist with annual financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in enhancing and maintaining accurate cash flow and income statement forecasting processes.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive accounting policies, controls, and procedures across the organization to strengthen financial accuracy and operational effectiveness.

  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and processes, and maintain compliance with financial policies and guidelines.

  • Support the research, implementation, and documentation of new and evolving accounting standards for company compliance.

  • Lead or participate in various special projects, such as system upgrades, process improvements, and new business initiatives.

  • Partner with other departments to support business initiatives, and ensure alignment with financial reporting goals.

What Will Enable You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP

  • Proven accounting manager level experience within a SaaS environment, ideally in a Series B or larger startup

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) credentials are preferred

  • Strong capabilities in using financial software and platforms, with a particular proficiency in Google Sheets.

  • Proven ability to oversee and improve accounting operations, policies, and controls in a scaling organization.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and implementation of financial policies and strategies.
