Red Rabbit is a Black-owned School Food Management Company that works with hundreds of schools, districts, and food banks to uplift communities of color throughout the North East and Mid-Atlantic Regions.
Our professionally trained chefs create menus, source farm fresh ingredients, and cook delicious, thoughtful, and familiar food. School food matters not only because it’s integral to good health, but because what children eat is an essential part of their cultural identity and sense of self.
About the Role
The Food Service Coordinator reports to the Head Chef and is part of a 5-8 person team. The key responsibility of this position is to ensure meals are prepared on time and with dignity, while consistently meeting the needs of the schools.
The ideal candidate has strong kitchen expediting experience, is comfortable with administrative tasks, and enjoys interacting with customers. A strong emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s ability to work effectively with both the kitchen teams and the schools, supporting the work and uplifting the students.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure meals are served on time in compliant portions daily,
- Maintain a clean and presentable service line, uplifting the students with dignity
- Proactively share information between teams to keep operations running smoothly.
- Identify and resolve potential conflicts or "collision points" to maintain workflow.
- Maintain operational systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy and meal compliance
- Create accountability checks to ensure consistent data management.
- Proactively address day-of concerns with school partners and keep Head Chef and District Manager informed
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to solve same-day operational issues.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Required
- 3-5 years experience in an operational or administrative role supporting cross-functional teams.
- 1+ year in a customer-facing role preferred
- Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple projects successfully • Experience with schools and/or food service, a plus
- An entrepreneurial spirit and desire to be part of a growing, mission-based company • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
- Acute attention to detail and impeccable follow through
- Must share our passion improving nutrition in schools and see our work through the lens of social justice and equality
- Bilingual : Spanish/English a plus
