About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated, and efficient Food Service Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Head Chef, the In-School Food Service Coordinator serves as the operational link between the kitchen team and our school partners, helping ensure meals are served accurately, safely, and on time.
The Food Service Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining smooth service line operations, coordinating with the kitchen team and school partners, and creating a positive dining experience for students. In collaboration with the Compliance Team, this position is responsible for maintaining accurate meal counts and operational records, supporting compliance with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements, and ensuring dietary accommodations, including allergy protocols, are accurately communicated, documented, and followed in accordance with Red Rabbit operating standards.

Primary Responsibilities
Meal Service & Operations
- Coordinate daily meal service to ensure meals are accurately portioned, compliant with program requirements, and served on time
- Coordinate meal staging and presentation to ensure meals are visually appealing, and organized
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming service line that provides students with a positive dining experience
- Monitor daily operations, identify workflow issues, and collaborate with the kitchen team to resolve same-day operational needs
Compliance & Information Management
- Maintain accurate meal counts, operational records, and required documentation in company systems. Promptly escalate discrepancies
- In partnership with the Compliance Team, support compliance with NSLP requirements, company policies, and dietary accommodations, including allergy protocols
School Partner Communication
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison between the kitchen team and school partners, proactively addressing operational concerns and keeping the Head Chef and District Manager informed
- Communicate timely updates between school partners, kitchen staff, and internal teams to support efficient daily operations
Food Safety & Kitchen Support
- Follow Red Rabbit food safety standards, HACCP procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Monitor food temperatures, proper food handling, sanitation, and overall kitchen organization
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Requirements
Required
- 2-4 years experience in an operational or administrative role supporting cross-functional teams
- 1+ year in a customer-facing role preferred
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow through
- Experience maintaining accurate records and managing operational documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Must share our passion for improving nutrition in schools and see our work through the lens of social justice and equality
Preferred
- Experience working in K-12 schools or institutional food service
- Experience in food service, hospitality, or an operational support role
- Knowledge of USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Typical Hours: Monday - Friday apx- 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Location: Southwest Philadelphia, PA
Reports to: Head Chef
Compensation: $19.00 - $22.00
