As a Community Engagement Intern at Via, you will work on high-impact projects in Sioux Falls and aid in Via’s efforts with our partners to boost community awareness and ultimately increase Sioux Area Metro ridership. Along the way, you’ll be helping us build toward Via’s long-term success as we continue to grow. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work on real challenges at a fast paced, mission-oriented TransitTech company.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage community engagement strategy for Sioux Area Metro and Via, working both internally and externally to engage community groups, elected officials and riders, with a strong focus on vulnerable rider populations.
- Build relationships with community organizations and leaders to increase awareness of Via’s services in their local communities and solicit information about their needs. This includes providing on the ground and virtual efforts such as attending community events, leading trainings, and creating engagement materials.
- Engage with local elected officials to understand community needs and engage their constituents.
- Engage with riders and develop programs for continued education to ensure community members understand and take advantage of all service offerings.
- Create targeted marketing content aimed at educating community members on service offerings, and help to bring this content to life by distributing throughout Sioux Falls.
- Serve as the main point of contact regarding community engagement for our partners, helping them proactively identify and address community barriers and concerns.
- Manage feedback for product development, ensuring that our engineering team is getting the feedback they need to build the best product possible to meet the needs of our riders.
- Collaborate closely with Partnerships, Rider Growth, Operations and other internal teams to ensure the voice of the rider is heard and we’re building inclusive marketing strategies to reach diverse audiences.
Who You Are:
- Analytically minded, with exceptional written and verbal communication
- Independent, enterprising, self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
- Self-starter; willing to wear multiple hats and work on projects of all types
- Meticulous and vigilant with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Demonstrated record of entrepreneurial achievement and/or leadership
- Exceptional academic record and prior employment experience
- Background in finance, analytics (i.e. Tableau, SQL) or programming is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
- Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
