POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Corporate Paralegal assists with the corporate secretarial function, contract administration, privacy/compliance support, and legal/regulatory research. Under general supervision, the Senior Corporate Paralegal will perform various duties centered on supporting the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the contracting administration process, and other assigned tasks. This role involves a significant amount of administrative responsibility. Priorities will be adjusted as needed throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedules, coordinates, and prepares minutes for Board meetings under the supervision of the Corporate Secretary.
  • Acts as a go-to-person for all issues related to contract administration.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments concerning contract execution and tracking.
  • Works with template contracts with very little supervision, is very detail oriented, and possesses strong organizational skills with strong follow-up and accountability.
  • Examines contracts and related documents to ensure completeness and accuracy and facilitates signature process promptly and with expediency.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of Legal Department objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts and participates in internal and external meetings.
  • Perform legal research and draft legal summary, including but not limited to watching for new mandates and regulations (proposed or final), summarizing the same, and distributing to internal business partners
  • Initial review and processing of subpoenas before escalating to counsel for review.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting ongoing deadlines.
  • Will provide backup support to the Privacy function for administrative support.
  • Will assist with Compliance function as needed.

Day-to-day Role:

  • Template contract drafting, managing contract signature process and contract database management.
  • Support Corporate Secretary function, including but not limited to, scheduling Board meetings, preparation of Board information packets, and minute taking and drafting.
  • Support Compliance and Privacy functions as needed.
  • Ability to perform high-level paralegal work with minimal supervision.
  • Legal writing and contract preparation.
  • Regulatory/statutory research and analysis.
  • Coordination of a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ Degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Ability to perform high-level paralegal legal work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle aggressive deadlines along with evolving priorities
  • Proficient in legal writing, minute-taking and drafting, and contract preparation.
  • Strong competence in regulatory/statutory research and analysis.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects, and timeframes, as well as adapt to changing business needs.
  • Ability to present sophisticated issues and concepts to audiences of varying expertise in the subject matter (both orally and in writing).
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of critical or private matters while performing job duties and interacting with colleagues.
  • Ability to participate in team projects and fill various roles such as team member, facilitator, or leader as needed
  • Experience working with regulators is strongly desired.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Paralegal certificate
  • Health plan experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented
Salary Description
$80,000 - $100,000 /year, based on experience
